A review on third-generation biofuels from marine diatoms

چکیده

Modern life increases the consumption of fossil fuels leading to a decrease in natural resources. Therefore, an alternative energy sources like biowastes - food waste, agricultural municipal etc. tree edible and non-edible oily seeds; various aquatic plants were also identified as sources. In recent years, many efforts have been made determine possibility using algae source bio-oil biogas for production. Algae are considered large diverse group, often autotrophic organisms, ranging from unicellular multicellular. They can produce far greater amounts biomass lipids per hectare than any other type terrestrial biomass-producing organism. Due their global presence, diatoms known producer biofuels years. Another is biodiesel, which used sustainable form diesel fuel derived Diatomic among third generation that ultimately contribute about 60-90% less greenhouse gas emissions traditional

Third generation biofuels from microalgae

Biofuel production from renewable sources is widely considered to be one of the most sustainable alternatives to petroleum sourced fuels and a viable means for environmental and economic sustainability. Microalgae are currently being promoted as an ideal third generation biofuel feedstock because of their rapid growth rate, CO2 fixation ability and high production capacity of lipids; they also ...

Scope of Algae as Third Generation Biofuels

An initiative has been taken to develop different solid, liquid, and gaseous biofuels as the alternative energy resources. The current research and technology based on the third generation biofuels derived from algal biomass have been considered as the best alternative bioresource that avoids the disadvantages of first and second generation biofuels. Algal biomass has been investigated for the ...

Third Generation Biofuels via Direct Cellulose Fermentation

Consolidated bioprocessing (CBP) is a system in which cellulase production, substrate hydrolysis, and fermentation are accomplished in a single process step by cellulolytic microorganisms. CBP offers the potential for lower biofuel production costs due to simpler feedstock processing, lower energy inputs, and higher conversion efficiencies than separate hydrolysis and fermentation processes, an...

Outdoor Cultivation of Marine Diatoms for Year-Round Production of Biofuels

Biofuel production using microalgae is believed to have the advantage of continuous year-round production over crop plants, which have strong seasonality. However, actual year-round production of microalgal lipids using outdoor mass cultivation has rarely been demonstrated. In our previous study, it was demonstrated that the oleaginous diatom, Fistulifera solaris, was culturable in outdoor bior...

From first generation biofuels to advanced solar biofuels

Roadmaps towards sustainable bioeconomy, including the production of biofuels, in many EU countries mostly rely on biomass use. However, although biomass is renewable, the efficiency of biomass production is too low to be able to fully replace the fossil fuels. The use of land for fuel production also introduces ethical problems in increasing the food price. Harvesting solar energy by the photo...
